Oct 10, 2011: The Washington Times/ -- Culture-war
heroine gets her due - Alice Moore opened parents eyes
to liberal indoctrination in textbooks : "As a school
board member in Kanawha County, W.Va., in the early 1970s, Alice
Moore ignited what might be considered the opening battle of Americas
culture war in education....Mrs. Moore challenged the boards
choice of textbooks and supplementary materials, touching off
a yearlong protest that riveted the nation in 1974. Among other
things, it alerted parents that the educational establishment
was not only anti-Christian but aggressively so. The uprising
presaged todays Tea Party revolt against overbearing government."

live a blessed life. Now comes another little book about an equally
obscure character of faith known as Jonadab from the books of

January 2010 - Focus -- by Rosanne McDowell
That was the topic of a debate last October between E. Ray Moore,
president of Frontline Ministries, and Herb Silverman, president
of the Secular Coalition for America and professor at the College
of Charleston. Sponsored by the Pastafarians, a USC student organization
for atheists and agnostics, the event drew Christians and non-Christians
alike to consider Moores defense of Americas Christian
foundation and Silvermans denial of it.

: The insanity of the right - Most likely you've heard Einstein's
definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again
and expecting different results. Nowhere is this more obvious
today than with political and religious conservatives, the so-called
right. What do I mean? Next month the right will send millions
of their own children to public schools that are literally controlled
by the left meaning that it is only the liberals' "values,"
"morals" and curriculum that are taught in our government
schools

What follows is Exodus Mandate's press release regarding Dr. Morris
Chapman's call for a radical expansion of Christian k-12 education
by the SBC. Because Dr. Chapman is effectively the CEO of the
SBC, this means that action will be taken (note that this is vastly
more important than passing a resolution - it is a call to action
by someone who can make that action happen).

: The Southern Baptist Convention is Finally 'Throwing in the
Towel' on Government Schools -- COLUMBIA, SC, June 2 /Christian
Newswire/ -- In 2004 Brig. Gen. T.C. Pinckney, USAF Ret. and former
2nd Vice President of the SBC, and Dr. Bruce Shortt, Houston attorney,
opened a debate over education by submitting a resolution to the
Annual Meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention urging Baptists
to remove their children from government schools and, instead,
give them a Christian education. Although the Pinckney/Shortt
Resolution was met with howls of execration from many Christian
leaders, and the Resolutions Committee prevented it from being
voted on by the Annual Meeting, the Resolution initiated an important
debate over education, both inside and outside the SBC.

: A case for Christian elementary and secondary schools --
By Morris H. Chapman
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--I am truly amazed at the excellence of
many of our Christian colleges and universities. I serve as a
trustee of Union University in Jackson, Tenn., and we have remarkable
students from around the world and a first-class faculty to train
them. Several times throughout the year we send out graduates
who will elevate the professionalism in their respective fields
but also who will transform the world with the message of the
Gospel.

"... but to
be certain not to abandon our biblical responsibility to
come alongside parents in training up a child in the way he should
go. Can we ignore the enormity of this need
any longer when our children so desperately need to be fortified
with strong biblical precepts as well as history, grammar, literature,
civics, math and science? In recent days, two questions
have weighed heavily on my soul. If Southern Baptists don't do
it, who will? If we don't do it now, do
we risk forever losing the opportunity to build schools for God's
glory and the future of our children, grandchildren and the land
we love?"

Moore is calling on all families,
churches, pastors, major Christian ministries and organizations,
to concentrate for one year on extracting Christian children from
the pagan, godless public schools."
Political
Pullback for the Christian Right?
By Kathleen Parker -- Sunday, April 5, 2009 -- Is the Christian
right finished as a political entity? Or, more to the point, are
principled Christians finished with politics? -- These questions
have been getting fresh air lately as frustrated conservative
Christians question the pragmatism -- defined as the compromising
of principles -- of the old guard. One might gently call the current
debate a generational rift.
